The Conundrum

always be contented

this year was the first, in maybe 10 years, that my birthday didn't fall right in the middle of a crucial period in the academic calendar, and what did i do to celebrate my first year of freedom from examinations?
i rolled off the bed at 12 because the sun was shining too brightly in my face, and then worked my ass off for the rest of the day.
the end.

i got a couple of birthday wishes (one from a very persistent Kelly,) a birthday cake that, in the baker's own words, didn't taste like anything, a much needed gift card from Kimmy, a fake potted plant from the hilarious/lovely (weird combination) neighbors, and a pair of vintage Chanel earrings courtesy of the mature, independent and beautiful....me.

seeing as i now have my own house (where i'm very much allowed to do whatever the f i want to, since my wishes typically reflect my wife/housemate's desires,) i was expecting to throw a classy party and have all my guests come decked out in their most expensive dresses, pop a bottle of champagne (or five), have an abundance of mouth watering pastries to go around in a house that's dimly lit to create the perfect classy ambiance i was had envisioned for the party.

but that never happened. in reality i had a quiet (disregarding the fact that my days at work in a psychiatric facility are anything but quiet) day, and spent the rest of my night with a couple of friends, doing nothing much indeed. but strangely enough, i felt contented.

to everyone who remembered to wish, thanks for all the love. could feel it from 9862 miles away.

love you all!
